TP-Link Router Lights Explained — All LED Colors & Patterns
TP-Link: Standard globe + power + LAN + Wi-Fi LED layout. Orange globe = no internet. Green globe = working. Blinking green globe = active data. Most common entry-level Archer behavior.
Router Blinking Orange Light
TP-Link: Orange WAN LED = router is connected to modem but has no internet. TP-Link uses orange specifically for 'link but no internet' vs. white/green for 'internet active'.
Router Solid Red Light
TP-Link: Solid red is not standard on most TP-Link models. If you see solid red, it usually means the device is in a boot failure state or the LED driver has mislabeled an amber LED.
Router Blinking White Light
TP-Link: TP-Link typically uses white for normal operation. Slow white blink = WPS mode active. Fast white blink on WAN LED = WAN connected and data transferring.
Router Solid Orange Light (Not Blinking)
TP-Link: TP-Link uses orange on the Internet/Globe LED to indicate 'no internet despite physical connection'. The Tether app will show a more specific error. Often caused by ISP DHCP not responding.
Router Blinking Red Light
TP-Link: Blinking orange-red on TP-Link Internet LED = cannot get IP from ISP and is in error state. TP-Link's power LED doesn't usually blink red — if it does, it's a hardware fault (fan failure on high-end models, or overheating).
